This Week’s Question:

Your house is burning down and you have time to select three books you own to take with you. Which three books?

Room by Emma Donoghue

This book was a Birthday present from my Dad and a book I truly love. It’s definitely got mature themes in it, and I wouldn’t consider it a light read to pass time. This is a book that requires time and emotional involvement. I couldn’t recommend it enough, but be prepared for heartbreak.
Also, it’s a hardback, so you know, that’s just a hundred times better than any paperback ever.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This is probably my all time favourite romance novel, and I couldn’t live without it in my life. It’s the ultimate romance, a definite classic. It’s the kind of book that you can pick up at any time and still love it. Sure, it’s on my Kindle, but a physical copy of Pride and Prejudice just feels so right.
The It Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar

I’ve read this book too many times to count, it’s got a well earned place in my heart. The It Girl was probably the first YA book that I ever read, and I fell in love instantly. I suppose you could say it was my gateway novel into the unknown (and incredible) world of YA. I’ve never looked back.
Kindle

Okay, so this is a cheeky fourth. The question says books, but my Kindle is home to the majority of my books, so it only makes sense that I’d take my book storage with me. Plus it’s got The Winner’s Curse and Red Queen on, and I couldn’t part with them! If I had physical copies of those two books they’d definitely be on the list!
Also, my cat is quite fond of it and seems to sit on/with it a lot.

They’re the three books (and Kindle) that I’d save in a fire. Which books earned the right to be your chosen three? Let me know what you picked in the comments!

  1. Interesting that you put so much stock in hardbacks. Ever since I worked at Walden Books WAAAAY back in the day and my manager was like “Oh hardbacks? They just have cardboard in them so that they look impressive enough to charge more for.” Since them I've felt kind of cheated by the damn things. Especially as they can be annoying to hold up. But there are special edition hardbacks I feel that way about. Like my collector's edition Terry Prachett's from Gollancz…

  2. The house is on fire not really gonna think about books 🙂
I'm grabbing my tablet, my photo books and the signed books. I don't really have a favorite book I can't live without.

  3. Thanks! My Kindle is so special to me, it had to have a mention! I have loads of physical books, but more recently I read on my Kindle so the new releases are all on there.
Thanks for stopping by and following! 🙂 xx

  4. I don't ever really buy myself hardbacks, I'll wait for the paperback or get in on my Kindle. But if a book is, as you said, a special edition then I'm all over it. I love all of the hardbacks that I have because they do feel that little bit extra special.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂 xx
