Monthly Wrap Up | October 2014

As if it’s already the end of September! It feels like barely any time has passed since I started back at uni at the beginning of the month. I’ve not read as many books this month as I did in September, purely because I’ve been SO busy at uni. Click on the picture to go to my review of each book!

What I’ve Read

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger
A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger
3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore
Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley

Currently Reading

Scratch by Rhonda Helms

Taking Names by Michelle N. Onuorah

I’ve been reading Scratch for quite a while now, and when I say reading, what I really mean is it’s been sitting unfinished on my Kindle. I decided it was time to take a break and move onto a book I’m actually excited to about!
I was lucky enough to be sent Taking Names by Michelle N. Onuorah in exchange for an honest review. Taking Names is the sequel to Type N, a book I absolutely ADORED! I’ll be reviewing both books this month!

So that’s what I’ve been reading this October! I’d love to know what you’ve been reading this month, let me know in the comments! If you’re new to the blog then I’d love you to follow me on Bloglovin’!

3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore | Review

Description from Goodreads:

Baya Brighton is looking forward to her first year at Whitney Briggs University, new friends, dorm life, and finally being close to her brother again. Love is the last thing on the list, but when Baya meets her brother’s roommate she begins to have thoughts and feelings that make even her blush.

Bryson Edwards has a secret he prefers buried in the past and long forgotten. He prefers loose girls, fast cars, and long nights working the strings of bars his family owns. When his roommate’s sister shows up on the scene, she’s far too innocent and sweet for him but he can’t shake Baya out of his mind and worse, it looks likes she’s seeping into his heart as well.

Baya seems determined to show her brother she’s not a little kid and equally determined to use Bryson’s body to prove her point. It’s been made pretty clear that Baya is off limits to Bryson but their undeniable sparks explode into a whole lot more than just a few 3:AM kisses.

In 3:AM Kisses Baya is the ultimate good girl, but she wants to shed this persona and start over at university. Although there’s clearly a giant flaw in her plan in the form of her overly protective big brother. So obviously the next step in her master plan is to seduce her brothers roommate. Which makes perfect sense.

It isn’t Baya that decides to pursue Bryson, oh no, during her first moments on campus her top falls down, flashing the goods to Bryson. And I’m sorry, but is that at all realistic? Overall, one of my main problems with this book was that it’s SO unrealistic, to the point I found it hard to engage with the characters.

Baya doesn’t stay in her dorm room long, her roommate is constantly having sex with guy after guy. Yes, this would get annoying. But I wouldn’t move out before ever talking to the girl, clearly you would talk to her about it first. That wouldn’t do for Baya though, she went and moved in with her brother, and, you guessed it, Bryson!

Baya has a lot of comedic moments in the book, she’s meant to be a funny character. Although I did find her funny, a lot of the time the comedy felt out of place. Her dialogue was very over the top, and you just know that NO ONE speaks like that!

Let’s move on to Bryson, along with Baya’s brother Cole, he’s the ultimate playboy, actually keeping a record of the amount of girls he’s slept with using notches on his wall! But then he meets Baya and stops all the casual flings (cliché or what).

To top off the novel, Bryson has a psychopath girl after him and any girl he dates. Which naturally means that she’s going to try and kill Baya. There were to many clichés in this book to count.

It’s probably pretty clear that I didn’t get on well with this book, I wanted to like it, yet unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Have you read 3:AM Kisses? Let me know what you think in the comments! If you’re new to the blog then I’d love you to follow me on Bloglovin’!

Book Haul #2

I’ve bought quite a few new books recently that are all waiting for me on my Kindle, and I’m really excited to read them! I thought I’d share my haul with you all, so here are the books that I’ve recently purchased.
Scratch by Rhonda Helms (ebook)

This is a book that I discovered through a few blogs, everyone seemed to enjoy it, so I decided to buy it and read it for myself.

Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley (ebook)

Again, this book has been receiving a lot of coverage in the blogging world. All the reviews that I’ve seen are very complementary and positive. The story line, that a girl goes to previously all boy military academy and has to go above and beyond to prove herself, caught my attention. The books sounds really interesting, and I can say that I’m definitely enjoying it at the moment!

The Giver by Lois Lowry (ebook)
I heard about The Giver due to the film adaptation that’s been made. I saw the trailer and loved it, but because I love books so much I knew that I had to read it before I watch it!

Where She Went by Gayle Forman (ebook)

I absolutely ADORED If I Stay (you can read my review here). It’s book that I’d happily read more of. So it’s not a surprise to find this book in my haul. I can’t wait to read this, but if it’s anything like the first one, then I won’t be taking it out in public!

Random (Going The Distance #1) by Lark O’Neal (ebook)

This is a book that I’ve been meaning to read for a while, and when I saw that it was free on the Kindle I couldn’t pass it by. This is a romance novel, with a hot, mysterious guy with scars. It’s a bit of a twist on the normal rendition, usually it’s the girls with a dark past and even darker secrets. It’s a book I’m looking froward to reading, and being free, you can’t go wrong!

3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore (ebook)

As I said in my previous haul, I love books set in university. 3:AM Kisses is my latest find, Baya moves to the same university as her VERY overprotective brother and starts falling for his roommate. I’ve already read this book and really enjoyed it, the review will be up soon.

Forever Dreams by Leeanna Morgan (ebook)

Another guilty pleasure of mine when it comes to books is weddings. A beautiful wedding is every little girls dream. With a wedding dress on the cover, how could I not buy this book?

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger (ebook)

I saw this book on a blog post, looked it up and loved the synopsis, so much so that I bought it that day. I’ve already read and reviewed this book, and it was definitely worth the purchase!

A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger (ebook)

After loving Shut Out so much I wanted to read more of Kody Keplinger. A Midsummer’s Nightmare really appealed to me, a crazy party girl finds out that her dad’s engaged and that she’s slept with her soon to be stepbrother. Sounds good to me!

That’s all the books in my haul! Have you read any of these books or bought any books you’re really excited about? Let me know in the comments! If you’re new to the blog then I’d love you to follow me on Bloglovin’!
