Dream Book Conference Panel | Author Edition

There aren’t many book conferences that take place where I live, however if I were to create my own book conference I would use Eventbrite!  Eventbrite is the largest self-service ticketing platform in the world that helps people find and plan events. Eventbrite are currently working on a project right now, and have encouraged me to share my dream panel for a book conference!
I thought the project sounded really interesting so here is my post!

My Dream Author Panel

J. K. Rowling

Sarah J. Maas

Marie Rutkoski

I would love to get these three authors together to talk about fantasy in Young Adult fiction. I think it would be super interesting to get their takes on world building and character description/development in the fantasy genre, because let’s face it, they’re all pretty incredible at it. I’d also love to get them talking about kickass female characters, the likes of Hermione, Aelin, Kestrel, Molly Weasley and Professor McGonagall, whether they’re the main heroine or play a minor role in the narrative.
They’re the three authors I’d love to get together to talk fantasy, I’d love to know who you would pick! I really enjoyed writing this post, so if you’d like me to do a character based post then I would be more than happy to do so!

My Christmas Book Wishlist | Wishlist Wednesday

I, like many other booklovers, have more than one book on my Christmas wish list. Of course I also have quite a few items that I would love Santa to bring me that aren’t books at all, but I do have a list of books that I would really love for Christmas this year. The books that have made it onto this list are books that I wouldn’t particularly buy for myself for one reason or another, but do really want. I in no way expect all of these books for Christmas, it’s simply a list of books that I have never got around to buying for myself,  although I may end up gifting myself a book or two!

The first book is the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, I got Philosopher’s Stone for Christmas last year so I’d love to continue on the tradition and add the second illustrated book to my collection!

Next up I would love one of the Penguin Classic editions of Jane Austen’s books. I’ve mentioned these editions more than once before, but they’re beautiful and not the kind of thing that I would buy for myself! So one of them would be the perfect Christmas treat, and as Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favourite books, I’d have to say that’s the one that I’d love to have a spot on my bookcase.

This book is a little on the pricey for Amazon side of things, which is honestly the big reason that I’ve put off buying it for myself. Again I’ve spoke about this book before and really love the sound of it, but over a tenner for a book? I don’t think I could justify spending that on a book for myself!

This books sounds so cool! My sister has a slight love for Russia due to her history course, and from being constantly told about it, when I saw that The Crown’s Game is set in Tsarist Russia I knew it had to be. As with Blackmoore I feel that this book is slightly pricey at just over £12 on Amazon, so again I’m not able to fully justify buying it for myself.
If you have any recommendations for books you think I should invest in then please let me know in the comments!

What I’m Planning To Read This Christmas

I have not sat down and read a book in the longest time, I got Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them on release day and it’s still just sitting on my bookcase. In fact, I’ve had quite a few new books recently that I’m really excited to read but I just have not felt like reading, which has not been helped by the fact I’ve been incredibly busy these past two months. I had to make the very sad decision to lower my Goodreads Reading Goal once again, because there was simply no way I was going to manage to read 75 books by the end of December, considering that to this day I have only read 35.
But my Christmas break is right around the corner, and so help me God I will be reading, although my break is looking like it’s shaping up to be pretty busy too! This list is for myself as much as it is a sharing of what I’m going to read with all of my fellow bookworms. The way I see it, if I put it in a list, on the internet no less, then I am definitely more likely to get (at least some of) these books read! I would also absolutely love for you to share with me what you’re planning on reading this Christmas, I love nothing more than finding new books that people recommend and adding them to my wish list! So please share what you’re wanting to read, whether that be writing the books in a comment, or adding a link to your own post in the comments!

I want Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them to be a book that I just sit down and read in as close to one sitting as possible. So although my copy arrived on publication day I’ve put off reading it until I’ll be able to blitz it. I’m excited to read and watch this, and see what I think of the American wizzarding world.

I’ve been anticipating this book for quite a while, and it’s been sat on my bookcase for too long. I am excited to read this book, but as I said, I’ve been really busy lately and not had much time to read at all. I’m looking forward to reading this book, hopefully with chocolate, next to the fire with my doggy curled up next to me.

I have owned this book for an embarrassingly long time considering it has quite simply spent it’s time looking pretty on my shelf. I’ve heard amazing things about this and I want to read it, the amount of time I’ve had it suggests I need to read it!

Sometimes I just want a New Adult novel to enjoy, Smut is the book I’ll be picking up when I’m craving New Adult. I heard about this book on booktube and have since downloaded it on my Kindle, hopefully it’ll be a quicker read and will up my 2016 reading total!

That’s a list of the main books I’m hoping to read over Christmas. I hope to be reading these along with a few other books too! As I have already mentioned I would love to know what books you’re hoping to read this holiday period, so please let me know in the comments!

Pokémon Go Book Tag

I’ve seen this book tag all across Twitter and I just had to do it myself! I’ve been out catching them all with my little brother, and really enjoying it, like most of the world!! This tag was originally created by Read at Midnight so make sure you head over to check out the original post.
The first books that I remember really loving are The Worst Witch books. They started a love of reading that has continued on.
Pride and Prejudice, no questions asked! I reread it at least once every year, and if it’s on TV then I will be watching it!
This book saw a lot of coverage, in huge part due to its author’s YouTube fame, and the drama that surrounded it. I got Girl Online partly out of curiosity as to what the writing would be like, but I think the huge coverage put me off slightly, and I’ve yet to finish it two years on.
I couldn’t narrow this one down to just one book, so it’s more a general theme of New Adult college books, which I’ve read a fair few of! I love NA, but they do usually hold quite a lot of similarities!

I’ve always looked at the Falling Kingdoms books and been slightly intimated by the fact that they’re still being released! However, I have actually read the first book and I’m looking forward to the rest.

Quite a few books have kept me up reading them through the night, but most recently the culprit was A Court of Mist and Fury which I absolutely adored!

As previously mentioned I loved ACOMAF, so of course Feyre and Rhysand are pretty high up on my list of bookish OTPs, however they’re also alongside Arin and Kestrel from The Winner’s trilogy, because I also adored those books and both characters!

This hands down has to be the Rusk University series by Cora Carmack, they’re hot and steamy and I  always manage to speed through them.
I’m probably not the only one answering Harry Potter to this one, it’s Harry Potter and it’ll never get old!
I was slightly sceptic of the Throne of Glass series, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about fantasy and magic, and was wary of the extent of the high praise it seemed to be receiving. Well obviously I was very silly because the Throne of Glass series has been incredible so far!

I couldn’t think of a particular series, but an author definitely sprang to mind! I’ve never read anything by Colleen Hoover, but I do really want to. I really enjoy reading New Adult, and there’s been lots of praise for her books in the bookish community, so I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one (preferably with the American cover) and giving Colleen Hoover a go!

Although they aren’t collector’s editions I would love to own the Penguin Vintage Classics Austen Series, particularly Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Emma and Sense and Sensibility as they are my favourites. The covers of the Penguin editions are absolutely beautiful, and I hope to one day own all of the Austen collection.

I’m highly anticipating the release of Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. It’s a a fantasy novel that sounds like it’s going to be pretty damn good!

Up until recently I didn’t particularly feel that I had an auto-buy author, but I’ve come to realise that my auto-buy author is Sarah J. Maas. I’ve adored all of the six books of hers that I’ve read, and I’m excited for her next release in September, and all of the other books she’s announced she’ll be writing in the ACOTAR world!

It feels like I’ve been waiting a long time for a lot of books, one series that springs to mind is the illustrated Harry Potter books, waiting for a new one every year is going to be torture!

I’m not tagging anyone in particular, but I would love to see how you answer the questions! Now, time to hunt some Pokémon!

Monthly Wrap Up | December 2015

I broke up for Christmas towards the beginning of December, so I’ve had a very relaxing month that’s allowed for a lot of reading! During the beginning of my Christmas break I celebrated my 21st birthday, and had a great time with my family! I decided to take a little break from my Harry Potter reading, and read some other books that have been sitting on my bookcase begging to be read for too long!

What I Read

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

The Heir by Kiera Cass

Currently Reading

I’m really enjoying My Heart and Other Black Holes so far, I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy books recently, so it’s really nice to read a bit of contemporary this month.

What books did you read this December? Let me know in the comments!

Happy New Year, I hope you all have a wonderful 2016!

Monthly Wrap Up | November 2015

November hasn’t been the best blogging month for me, I’ve had deadlines and placement to contend with, along with later nights and my Harry Potter reading addiction. I’ve been working my way through the Harry Potter series for the first time, and I’ve loved all of the books so far! But as I’m wanting to read Harry Potter purely for pleasure I’ve decided not to review the books, which is one of the reasons reviews have been a bit lacking this month!

What I’ve Read

Currently Reading

I was reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the time of my last Wrap Up, and damn that book’s big!! My non-Harry TBR has been pushed to the side and I’ll probably be purchasing The Half Blood Prince soon!
What books did you read in November? Let me know in the comments!

Monthly Wrap Up | October 2015

I made the decision to start my Harry Potter journey in the month of October, and I am so glad that I did! Looking back I have no idea what stopped me reading them years ago! Along with the beginning of my Harry Potter book relationship, I also started back at uni so that’s been rather full on to say the least! As in all of my Wrap Ups click the book to read my review, but unfortunately that only applies to George this month! I’ve made the decision to read Harry Potter purely for my own enjoyment so I probably won’t be reviewing them!

What I’ve Read

George by Alex Gino

Currently Reading

It’s only a few days into November and I’ve already moved onto the fifth Harry Potter book! I’ve got some non Harry Potter books in my TBR too, but I just seem to be blazing through the series!!
