Monthly Wrap Up | November 2014

This month has been a little quiet on the reading front. It’s safe to say that that I’ve been a very busy girl this November. My month’s been jam packed with placement and assignments, so reading really wasn’t a priority. Hopefully all that will change in December, I break up for a month on Friday, giving me much needed reading time!
I managed to read three books this month, and I use the term ‘read’ very loosely. Out of the three books I only finished one. As always click the picture to read my review!

What I’ve Read

Taking Names by Michelle Onuorah

Currently Reading
After a very busy month all I wanted was a book I’m guaranteed to enjoy. It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for a happily ever after and an American Cowboy. This book promised me some light fun before I jump into something with a bit more oomph!

Well, that’s what I’ve been reading during November! As always I’d love to know what you’ve been reading, make sure to let me know in the comments! Description from Goodreads:
Life is random…

19-year-old Jess Donovan knows better than most that her life is random. Her mom is dead, and she’s on her own, patching together a living as a waitress when a car crashes through the restaurant where she works. In two seconds she loses her job, watches her best friend hauled away in an ambulance…and meets Tyler Smith, one of the hottest, most fascinating — and mysterious guys she’s ever met.

Both for the good and the bad…

Within days, Jess is swept up into the mesmerising force that is Tyler. Their every touch sizzles, every kiss dissolves them both, and the sex is…fierce. But there’s more to Tyler than his hypnotic eyes. He’s adrift, too, and his body — and his soul — are covered with scars. How can she find herself with a guy who is lost himself?

It seems that I’m unable to finish a book at the moment. Random is the third book that I can’t bring myself to read and finish recently. Clearly I’m not picking them well. Yes, I’ve been really busy lately, but if I had wanted to read Random then I would have made time. I’ve signed it off as a lost cause and I’m ready to move on to a book that I’ll hopefully finish. After reading the description again while writing this post I’m honestly surprised I ever decided to read it in the first place!
I got about half way into this book before deciding to call it quits, and personally I think that’s a fair shot. I don’t know if there’s a specific thing that I didn’t like about Random, I think it was more overall badness in my opinion.
For starters I wasn’t too keen on Jess. I found her to be an insipid character. Her boyfriend was a COMPLETE JERK and it takes her being PUNCHED in a bar fight and then getting blamed by him for her to realise that! Talk about ridiculous! Then things with Tyler started heating up, and she’d been broken up how long? A day maybe? To say she was ‘devastated’ she was sure able to overcome it pretty quickly.
At one point Tyler asks Jess if he can paint her, she agrees. Then he asks her to take her top and bra off and cover herself with a sheet. Little excessive if you ask me. Jess was clearly thinking the same thing, she was pretty adamant she wasn’t going to go topless in front of him. For two seconds. It didn’t take long for her to drop the sheet and bare chests to be rubbing against each other. It was around about then I decided to call it a day. I didn’t like Jess or Tyler, so there was really no point in continuing.

Book Haul #2

I’ve bought quite a few new books recently that are all waiting for me on my Kindle, and I’m really excited to read them! I thought I’d share my haul with you all, so here are the books that I’ve recently purchased.
Scratch by Rhonda Helms (ebook)

This is a book that I discovered through a few blogs, everyone seemed to enjoy it, so I decided to buy it and read it for myself.

Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley (ebook)

Again, this book has been receiving a lot of coverage in the blogging world. All the reviews that I’ve seen are very complementary and positive. The story line, that a girl goes to previously all boy military academy and has to go above and beyond to prove herself, caught my attention. The books sounds really interesting, and I can say that I’m definitely enjoying it at the moment!

The Giver by Lois Lowry (ebook)
I heard about The Giver due to the film adaptation that’s been made. I saw the trailer and loved it, but because I love books so much I knew that I had to read it before I watch it!

Where She Went by Gayle Forman (ebook)

I absolutely ADORED If I Stay (you can read my review here). It’s book that I’d happily read more of. So it’s not a surprise to find this book in my haul. I can’t wait to read this, but if it’s anything like the first one, then I won’t be taking it out in public!

Random (Going The Distance #1) by Lark O’Neal (ebook)

This is a book that I’ve been meaning to read for a while, and when I saw that it was free on the Kindle I couldn’t pass it by. This is a romance novel, with a hot, mysterious guy with scars. It’s a bit of a twist on the normal rendition, usually it’s the girls with a dark past and even darker secrets. It’s a book I’m looking froward to reading, and being free, you can’t go wrong!

3:AM Kisses by Addison Moore (ebook)

As I said in my previous haul, I love books set in university. 3:AM Kisses is my latest find, Baya moves to the same university as her VERY overprotective brother and starts falling for his roommate. I’ve already read this book and really enjoyed it, the review will be up soon.

Forever Dreams by Leeanna Morgan (ebook)

Another guilty pleasure of mine when it comes to books is weddings. A beautiful wedding is every little girls dream. With a wedding dress on the cover, how could I not buy this book?

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger (ebook)

I saw this book on a blog post, looked it up and loved the synopsis, so much so that I bought it that day. I’ve already read and reviewed this book, and it was definitely worth the purchase!

A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger (ebook)

After loving Shut Out so much I wanted to read more of Kody Keplinger. A Midsummer’s Nightmare really appealed to me, a crazy party girl finds out that her dad’s engaged and that she’s slept with her soon to be stepbrother. Sounds good to me!

That’s all the books in my haul! Have you read any of these books or bought any books you’re really excited about? Let me know in the comments! If you’re new to the blog then I’d love you to follow me on Bloglovin’!
